From Oahu to Kauai: Fire to Water

We manifested our farm on Oahu, and although it was hard work with lots of challenges, we were in awe of what we were able to create.

Just about a year into it, a major event sharply shifted the course of our farming journey.

A devastating fire burned over 200 acres of farmland, and unfortunately, our little acre farm was part of it.

Thankfully, our sheep and chickens were miraculously saved, but our growing seedlings and crops, thousands of dollars worth of materials, and most of all, all of the blood, sweat, and tears we had put into the farm the past 10 months, vanished in a few hours.

As we calculated the cost to fix and re-start everything, we realized that it was going to require a lot more than what we had planned. We were extremely fortunate to have an amazing community of generous people who donated to our fundraising efforts, and despite the loss, we were so grateful – this gave us the hope that we needed at the time to stay optimistic.

This opened up our energy to think of even bigger possibilities, and this led us to Kauai, where we landed in January of 2020, just in time for the worldwide pandemonium to begin!

Contrary to the dry area our previous farm was located on Oahu, we chose one of the wettest areas in the wet island of Kauai, right along a stream that leads to a beautiful giant waterfall. Stick anything in the ground, and it just grows – we hardly need to water anything!

With other amazing synchronicities that happened, we found a beautiful place to rent and grow our plants (for now) – our temporary homestead – until we can manifest the 20 acres that we really want!

In the 6 months that we’ve been here, we’ve been able to start hundreds of fruit tree seedlings, different types of herbs, Hawaiian chili peppers, and veggies to feed ourselves.

We’re in the process of developing some Kauai-grown and Kauai-made products to be released soon at farmer’s markets and online retail. Stay tuned and THANK YOU for supporting our farm journey!

The meaning and significance of 222 (and other signs from the Universe)

God, the Universe, the invisible yet powerful energy that connects all things and dimensions, is ALWAYS giving us signs.

Throughout our lives, since we were very young, my husband and I both knew there were signs from the nonphysical all around us. One of the significant ways in which we noticed this was through seeing certain numbers, and I know we’re not alone, because so much of this has been experienced, written by and defined by so many people.

This is our story of seeing the “angel numbers.”

For a few months right before I got together with my husband, I kept seeing “222” everywhere – on the cash register screen at the store I was managing, on the clock, on license plates – so much so that I had been telling people that that was my lucky number.

I had always had an awareness of seeing certain numbers and had studied numerology for a while. But this one felt different – it was more intense and very frequent. Whenever I saw it, it felt good, like God was reminding me that everything was going just fine.

The day we went on our first date, I had a thought that if this man is going to be a significant person in my life, then he is going to have one of two birthdays: it would either be the same as a close friend who passed away when I was young, or it would be my mom’s (who also died several years ago).

They were my guardian angels and I knew that there would be some guidance from them. My mom’s birthday was in the winter and my friend’s in the summer, and Doug, always smiling and exerting a positive vibe, seemed more like a summer guy. So I asked him very specifically if that was his birthday.

He probably thought that I had looked up his personal information somewhere, because to both of our surprise, that WAS his birthday.

So that was the first kind of psychic number connection I picked up with him. We had a sweet first date; we talked and laughed for hours laying on the sand at the beach. We both felt like we were catching up with an old friend.

The next day, I was at work and he sent me a text at 2:22 pm.

It said: “222.”

Nothing else, just 222. At 2:22 pm.

I was freaking out, because for months I had been seeing 222 and saying that this was MY number! (And I hadn’t told him about it.)

I replied right away saying, “How the F do you know about my number!?”

“It’s MY number,” he texted back. “When I was 16 or 17, I had a dream that I died. And when I woke up, the clock said 2:22. So ever since then, I’ve noticed 222 and it’s been a number that stuck with me.”

We had each looked up the meaning of 222 previously, and found that these repetitive numbers were known as “angel numbers.” It’s a number that you see when you’re on the right track, that good things are coming to you, that everything is unfolding at the right time.

2 is also a number of partnership – and to know that a great partnership is on its way.

The more important thing that I’ve found is that these numbers can have all these “meanings” behind them from what numerologists and psychics and others have defined BUT the true meaning is up to each and every individual.

In other words, it didn’t necessarily have to be 222 for us, it could have been any other number or another sign, that we could have given meaning to.

We can play a game with the Universe with any element we choose – if it’s a number or a bird or a butterfly or any other sign – those signs are always there, and we just have to tune into them and what they mean to us.

222 was an easy one to notice that we could connect upon, and we still see it everywhere, especially when we are appreciating our life, or when we start to feel negative emotions and seeing it brings us back into a more positive mood.

Later, my husband told me, “I sent you 222 because I wanted to see if we were on the same wavelength. I was testing you and our connection.”

It’s a sort of contract with life, that anytime we need the reminder to get out of a funk, the signs come into our present reality.

So when we got engaged, we immediately knew that we would get married on 2/22, and that just happened a few months ago. It was the best day of our lives, filled with so much love and pure joy.

Messages from the Universe are always around us… and dreams really do come true.

Essential Oils for Happy Cycling

Note: This is not about riding bikes 😉

Cycles. Something everything on Earth is based on. The seasons, the cycle of life and death, patterns found in nature… and for us women, our cycle is particularly significant, as it is our indicator of both physical and emotional health.

I made this protocol for myself, because I’ve been on a journey toward fertility. However, I didn’t want to call it the “fertility” protocol per se, because not every woman needs that, and as holistic practitioners, we never diagnose or treat any condition, we simply support the body to return to its state of balance.

So then I realized that by supporting a healthy cycle – even after menopause and there doesn’t seem to be an obvious cycle based on menstruation – we would be able to create an environment within our bodies that would help us with whatever our goals are.

Conceiving a baby is one of my main goals, for example. But another important one is making sure the baby is coming into a healthy environment, which is a deeper level of health than simply conceiving. For someone else, it could be recovering after childbirth. For yet another, it could be about feeling less hot flashes and menopausal symptoms.

Whatever point in your life you are at, whatever your desires are, join me on a journey for better womb health. The womb is located in the most powerful area of our body, the tanden, the sacral chakra… the source of our creativity and the portal through which we can birth souls into being. We are so blessed to be equipped with such an amazing body!

This is what I do for my own womb health, and every individual is different. I’m just sharing what’s been feeling really good for me, and what my reasons are for choosing what I use… feel free to adapt it or ask any questions. Again, this is not to diagnose or treat anything as I’m not qualified to do so; please consult with your healthcare provider about medical concerns.

What’s in My Healing Tool Bag

I use doTERRA essential oils and supplements because after years of research and using all different brands, their oils have resonated the most due to their extremely strict testing standards, scientific research and quality assurance. I am SO sensitive to chemicals but have never had any reactions to their products.

  • ClaryCalm Women’s Monthly Essential Oil Blend
  • Fractionated Coconut Oil
  • Hormonal Balancing Combo (Yarrow Pom, Turmeric, Copaiba, Pink Pepper EO’s)
  • Mito2Max Cellular Support Capsules
  • Lifelong Vitality Pack Supplements
  • TerraZyme Digestive Enzymes
  • PB+ Assist Probiotics
  • Living Clay Calcium Bentonite Clay
  • Apple Cider Vinegar

There are so many reasons why our bodies could be out of balance. If you have pregnancy difficulties or you have mood swings, PMS, and other hormonal issues, it is often difficult to pinpoint what the causes are, because like anything in life, it’s not that simple.

However, if you can create a more resilient and graceful state of being in your body and restore your body’s natural ability to maintain balance, then a lot of symptoms can be taken care of without needing to address every single one of them individually.

The first step is gentle detox.

We live in a world full of toxins. Our bodies are amazing at protecting us from harm but because of the constant onslaught of stressors – from pollutants in the air, in our homes, emotional stress, invisible stressors like EMFs from all the wifi and electronics, GMOs, chemicals in our food – we have become a society of exhausted and reactionary minions, easily agitated and overwhelmed.

After using this protocol for a little over a month, I immediately noticed a significant change – my cycle shortened to 28 days, instead of the previous 31-32 days.

My hair had been falling out from stress, but that also went away. And best of all, without doing anything, I have been steadily losing some pounds!

It’s because I’m giving my body what it needs so it knows how to get rid of unwanted things.

If you’re interested in getting this protocol, send us an email with “Happy Cycling” as the subject line. We are doing a limited time promo to give away $100 worth of products that are in the protocol when you purchase the basic starter package that we’ve customized. You’ll also get step-by-step guidance on how to use the products everyday so they won’t collect dust on your shelf!

Getting Started with Essential Oils

“There’s too much information out there… I don’t know where to start!”

If you want to improve your health, doTERRA is the way to go. The quality of their oils and products is by far the best on the market due to their strict and ethical sourcing and production guidelines. It’s backed by evidence and science. The problem is, it probably won’t help you if you don’t have the right information and guidance, and there’s a lot of misinformation out there on the wide sea of the internet on how to use them safely and effectively.

Taking care of your own health naturally should feel good, easy and uncomplicated, so we’ve put together the 3 easiest ways to get started, wherever you are on your journey.

Let’s start by figuring out where you’re at.

1️⃣I am totally an online shopper, and I don’t care about discounts. I’ll just get one or two items I like.

Browse through the online catalog and purchase at full retail price

2️⃣I heard you can get a starter kit with a membership that gets you wholesale prices, so I’ll go ahead and choose a kit.

Fill out the form to be a wholesale customer and get going!

3️⃣I want personal guidance from a qualified practitioner on whether these products will actually help me, but I don’t want to just be sold to. I’m willing to spend 15-30 minutes to discuss my needs and if doTERRA could be the solution.

Email us to book a free wellness consultation with subject “Wellness Consult.” There’s absolutely no obligation to buy. We don’t believe in hard selling, because we’re confident in the product, and the right people will find it at the right time. We’re just here to be that catalyst. If you do wish to order, then we will help you get set up so you can purchase all doTERRA products at 25% off.

What is BodyTalk?

Other than being a farm wife, I have always been drawn to the world of healing. Over the years, I’ve studied several healing techniques, and I have been a board-certified music therapist and holistic health practitioner for many years. (Basically, a hippie with a lot of credentials, so when I announced that I was doing a farm, my friends acted like they were surprised, but not really.)

One of the turning points in my therapist career was discovering a consciousness-based health system called BodyTalk. My now best friend and mentor Karen Atkins, a well-known health educator, came to the yoga center in San Francisco I was running at the time to teach a BodyTalk class, and I was hooked.

BodyTalk is a complete system that utilizes “tapping” methods to restore health in the cells of the body. Based on the most progressive research in quantum physics, it is a practical and methodical – albeit intuitive and seemingly mystical – way to repair relationships within the body so that all cells, organs, and systems work together in the most harmonious way possible.

After sampling Karen’s introductory class, I took the fundamentals course right away to become certified as a practitioner.

Not only did I get amazing results with my emotional and physical health, the sessions I started doing for my clients were just blowing my mind. It was like all of a sudden, I would connect with their body/mind and would be able to “see” where they were disconnected. Once those areas were highlighted and brought up to their awareness and released from the body, longstanding aches, pains, heartaches and discomforts also left their body.

Consciousness is the foundation of BodyTalk – it’s about tapping into the subconscious, which makes up more than 90% of our consciousness. We are only conscious 1-10% of the time! If we can (literally) tap into our subconscious and access our Inner Wisdom, then our bodies will be able to regain health.

I want to share one of Karen’s videos on a basic technique used in BodyTalk, called Cortices Balancing.

Karen says that “this is the most powerful technique I have found to:

-Calm the fight or flight response
-Get us out of overwhelm
-Speed up the healing process of trauma or injury

I have been teaching the cortices balancing technique for over 10 years, and have seen more miracles with this technique than any other single tool I’ve used. If each individual feels more peaceful inside then, one by one, the world becomes more peaceful. That’s the kind of world I want to live in.

There are thousands and thousands of testimonials from people from all over the world who’ve alleviated symptoms anywhere from headaches to insomnia and from ADD to Autism.”

Here is the video to show you how to do it.  By balancing both sides of the brain, the brain can do its work with better flow.  It’s very simple and only takes a minute, so give it a try on yourself, and on your babies and partners too!

BodyTalk gives us the power to become intermediaries between us and our innate wisdom. Our innate wisdom controls the communication between our 50-100 trillion cells. It knows what’s going on in the body. But because of all the conditioning, polluting, and ego-driven thinking that has separated us from this “inner doctor,” we need help from a system like BodyTalk to re-open the lines of communication and rediscover our bodies’ perfect ways to restore themselves.

Karen Atkins is really at the forefront of this healing technique in the US and I feel so lucky to have learned from the best. She has traveled all around the world to teach and train new BodyTalk practitioners. In Europe, BodyTalk has become a university degree, and many are lobbying for that to happen in the US as well.

What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is an established, evidence-based allied health care profession in which music is used to address emotional, social, developmental, physical, cognitive and/or spiritual needs.

Music Therapists use music as their treatment protocol and “medicine”; just as a doctor would prescribe and treat using their medical knowledge and technologies, music therapists clinically choose appropriate musical interventions to aid an individual or group in meeting desired goals.

Music Therapists receive many years of intensive training to become a well-rounded musician as well as a competent clinician, studying a wide range of disciplines, from human anatomy and physiology, psychology, psychoneuro-immunology, research, clinical improvisation, technology, composition and music theory to guitar, keyboards and percussion.

Music Therapists in the US must hold a current certification renewed every 5 years and follow a professional code of ethics provided by a national board after completion of their 4-year Bachelors or 2-year Masters degree and a supervised internship of 1200 hours and passing the certification exam.

Mayu Langford, MT-BC, HHP, CBP, has been a board-certified music therapist for 12 years, with experience providing music therapy at day programs for adults with developmental challenges, eating disorder and emergency units at psychiatric hospitals, bed-side hospital settings with terminally ill children and adults, schools for the emotionally challenged, as well as with Alzheimer’s patients at nursing homes, hospice and bereavement care. Mayu uses her gentle yet directive clinical approach combined with her musicianship she has acquired as a multi-instrumentalist/vocalist and singer/songwriter, having been featured on over 20 records worldwide. For the past several years, Mayu has focused mainly on individual and group sessions with children, including newborns and infants as well as children with special needs, especially on the autistic spectrum, as well as those diagnosed with ADD/ADHD.

Music Therapy for Children

Every music therapy session will look different, since the therapist is constantly assessing what the client’s needs are based on their behavioral, emotional and physical needs in each moment. Music Therapists typically use live instruments to create an interactive atmosphere.

The best part is that it seems as if it’s effortless, even though the therapist may be having the client “work,” like stretching their less mobile arm during rehabilitation by having them reach up to play a drum, or getting them to vocalize and therefore deepen their breathing, or changing the tempo to ease their anger, tantrums or over-stimulation.

Music therapy can set up a positive and success-oriented experience for the client, instead of a treatment they have to painfully sit through or have little attention/patience for. Because music can be used even with clients who are non-verbal, it can bypass communication barriers and often reach the core of the issue faster than other types of therapies that rely on verbal communication.

Music Therapy and Autism

Music Therapy has been used extensively with children as well as adults on the Autistic Spectrum. Research shows that Music Therapy can increase attention and socialization, improve cognitive functioning, verbal skills and behavior, enhance sensory-motor skills and auditory processing, while decreasing agitation and self-stimulation.

Music Therapy provides structure and creativity. Music is familiar and constant. We each have a rhythm – in our heartbeat, in our walking, in our breathing, in our daily routines. This being able to feel comfortable in a routine is even more so important to individuals with ASD, which music can provide, while at the same time, allowing room to explore creativity, emotional expansion and neurological development.

Music Therapy validates. By focusing on the client’s needs at every moment, it reminds the clients of their self-worth, and makes them aware – whether consciously or otherwise – that they are “okay.”

Music Therapy is always in the moment. Participation in active music making cannot happen without focusing on what is happening in the present moment. Instead of being frustrated or triggered by past memories/patterns or being afraid of future events, music therapy helps to keep the client focused on the “now,” which alleviates a significant amount of stress.

Music Therapy supports caregivers. Individuals with special needs, and their families, feel that they must constantly try to focus on “fitting in” to what mainstream society and institutions expect. Parents and caregivers of children with ASD often experience tremendous guilt, frustration, and isolation. Music therapy experiences have helped many families regain their strength, confidence and happiness, and their overall quality of life.

Music therapy interventions can be designed to:

  • promote wellness
  • manage stress
  • alleviate pain
  • express feelings
  • enhance memory
  • improve communication
  • improve attention span
  • promote physical rehabilitation.

Research in music therapy supports its effectiveness in a wide variety of healthcare and educational settings.
