From Oahu to Kauai: Fire to Water

We manifested our farm on Oahu, and although it was hard work with lots of challenges, we were in awe of what we were able to create.

Just about a year into it, a major event sharply shifted the course of our farming journey.

A devastating fire burned over 200 acres of farmland, and unfortunately, our little acre farm was part of it.

Thankfully, our sheep and chickens were miraculously saved, but our growing seedlings and crops, thousands of dollars worth of materials, and most of all, all of the blood, sweat, and tears we had put into the farm the past 10 months, vanished in a few hours.

As we calculated the cost to fix and re-start everything, we realized that it was going to require a lot more than what we had planned. We were extremely fortunate to have an amazing community of generous people who donated to our fundraising efforts, and despite the loss, we were so grateful – this gave us the hope that we needed at the time to stay optimistic.

This opened up our energy to think of even bigger possibilities, and this led us to Kauai, where we landed in January of 2020, just in time for the worldwide pandemonium to begin!

Contrary to the dry area our previous farm was located on Oahu, we chose one of the wettest areas in the wet island of Kauai, right along a stream that leads to a beautiful giant waterfall. Stick anything in the ground, and it just grows – we hardly need to water anything!

With other amazing synchronicities that happened, we found a beautiful place to rent and grow our plants (for now) – our temporary homestead – until we can manifest the 20 acres that we really want!

In the 6 months that we’ve been here, we’ve been able to start hundreds of fruit tree seedlings, different types of herbs, Hawaiian chili peppers, and veggies to feed ourselves.

We’re in the process of developing some Kauai-grown and Kauai-made products to be released soon at farmer’s markets and online retail. Stay tuned and THANK YOU for supporting our farm journey!
